Conference by Prof. Ramteen Sioshansi from Ohio State University

Prof. Ramteen Sioshansi, Associate Director of the Department of Integrated Systems Engineering and Research Associate at Ohio State University, will give a lecture entitled "Market and regulatory designs for energy storage" on Wednesday, September 8th, at 5:00 pm in the TA13 lecture hall of IFP School.

About his conference
Energy storage is a unique piece of equipment in the power system, in that it can provide services functionally similar to those provided by generation, transmission and distribution equipment, and act as a load. Most of our market designs and regulatory constructs assume that assets fall primarily into one of these categories. Professor Sioshansi will present the challenges raised by this dichotomy between the capabilities of energy storage and the regulatory and market treatment of power system assets. He will also discuss the potential use of storage capacity rights as a means to overcome these challenges.

Professor Sioshansi's background
Professor Sioshansi's research focuses on the integration of advanced energy technologies, including renewables, energy storage and electric transmission, into energy systems. He also works on energy policy and electricity market design, particularly with respect to advanced technologies. A fellow of the IEEE, he has served on the U.S. Secretary of Energy's Electricity Industry Expert Advisory Committee and chaired the Energy Storage Technologies group.

This event is organized under the auspices of the Association of Energy Economists (AEE), with the support of the Chair on "Electricity Economics and Digital Transition"  (IFP School), the Chair on "Economics of Climate" , the Armand Peugeot Chair (CentraleSupelec, ESSEC, PSA University) and the Chair on "Economics of Gas"  (Paris Dauphine-PSL University, IFP School, Mines Paris Tech-PSL University, Toulouse School of Economics).

A live broadcast will be provided by the AEE.
This event is open to the public.
