Five students from IFP School's Petroleum Geosciences program have won the Imperial Barrel Award (IBA) Europe competition of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG).
Yanis Hamidi (France), Alexandre Pimont Penha (Portugal-Brazil), Sámia Manhique (Mozambique), Prima Widianto Mozef (Indonesia) and Sabrina Torchia (Italy-Venezuela) worked for several months on the evaluation of the petroleum potential of a study area assigned to them based on real data provided by the AAPG and industrial partners.
The students competed against five European institutions: Taras-Shevchenkj National University of Kyiv, the University of Parma, the University of Bucharest, the University of Naples Federico II and the University of Stavanger.
Their victory is also due to the support provided by their coaches Éric Deville and Jean-Pierre Roy, both lecturers at the Georesources and Energy Center, and the IFP School faculty.
Congratulations to our students and good luck for the world final!
