They did it! The 5 students from the Petroleum Geosciences and Reservoir Geoscience and Engineering programs won the final, which took place in London on June 2, beating the 5 other finalist teams for the 2019 edition of the Laurie Dake Challenge*: University of Stavanger, Dalhousie University, Institut Teknologi Bandung, Instituto Mexicano del Petroleo, Petroleum University of Technology.
Participants were asked to analyse and propose a field development plan, based on a data set provided this year by BP, which was the sponsor of the 2019 edition.
"It was a real challenge to reconcile this project over 6 months in parallel with our studies, but our team worked in a good mood and with enthusiasm!" says Grégory Barrère, president of the EAGE student section at IFP School. "This experience has allowed us to apply the skills acquired in our various training programs at IFP School in concrete terms. Thank you to the pedagogical team for its support and guidance, as well as to the EAGE for this opportunity rich in meetings with teams from all over the world!"
Congratulations to the students of the Student Chapter EAGE of IFP School: Grégory Barrère, Damarys Castillo, Floriane Mortier, Diego Potenzoni and Serugue Santiago!
* The Laurie Dake Challenge, previously known as the FIELD Challenge, organised by the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE), brings together 10 active EAGE student sections selected from around the world at the annual EAGE Conference and Exhibition.
