IFP School has just launched a new website dedicated to the Chair on "Carbon Management and negative CO2 emissions technologies towards a low carbon future" (CarMa).

"This new site will be the main platform for our Chair" explains Jean-Pierre Deflandre, co-holder of the Chair and teacher-researcher at IFP School Georesources and Energy Center."

It will allow us to highlight and share our research as well as our actions in the field of education. I hope that it will contribute to the advancement of public and scientific dialogue on the major issues surrounding carbon" he added.

Created on July 2019 thanks to the support of Total in association with the Fondation Tuck, the CarMa Chair focuses on negative carbon dioxide emissions and the solutions associated with them. Its initial aim is to analyze this issue in order to select and provide approaches to reduce the carbon dioxide present in the atmosphere and contain its concentration over the long term to a level compatible with the ambitions of the Paris Agreement.

A first thesis on the deployment of Bio-energy with Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS) began on October 2019.

Two post-doctorate researchers have also being recruited to work on the following topics:

  • State of the art on the GHGs negative emissions and their treatment on carbon markets
  • Environmental assessment of negative emissions technologies
