The Covid-19 pandemic has forced IFP School to cease for the moment all traditional in-person classroom teaching but the entire School’s community is working hard to implement alternative forms of teaching based on online learning.
A noteworthy illustration of that effort is provided by Dr. Jeremy Eckhause, a RAND Corporation expert based in Washington, D.C. Dr. Eckhause annually visits IFP School to teach in the Energy and Markets program.
This year, he enthusiastically adapted his lectures and tutorials on "Employing Real Options to Mitigate Risk in Energy R&D Funding Decisions" to an online format. Despite the distance and the time zone difference, he managed to maintain the course while preserving both its high quality and its hands-on nature.
Dr. Eckhause is an Operations Researcher and Associate Director for the Strategy, Policy, and Operations Program (SPOP) at RAND Corporation. He has 20 years experience developing mathematical optimization and simulation models for transportation, energy, government and defense agencies. Founded in 1948, the RAND Corporation is a nonprofit institution that helps improve policy and decision-making through research and analysis.
