Marie-Hélène Klopffer

Marie-Hélène Klopffer is a Research Engineer in the Applied Physical Chemistry and Mechanics department of IFP Energies nouvelles (IFPEN) and has also been in charge of a specific mission at IFP School since the end of 2023. In this capacity, she helped launch the new "Hydrogen Project and Engineering" Advanced-master degree program (Mastère spécialisé), promoting the program and recruiting future students.
Since joining IFPEN in 1999, Marie-Hélène has always been involved in experimental studies related to the permeability of polymers to fluids in the oil and gas field, as well as hydrogen. She was initially Project Manager of a basic research project, then of the Materials project in collaboration with Technip until 2018. She was then appointed manager of a Joint Industry Project (JIP) involving partners from the oil industry, the aim of which was to study the impact of chemical additives on the treatment of production water.
She also took part in the European NaturalHy project to study the introduction of hydrogen into natural gas distribution networks, and then piloted the French ANR PolHYtube project.
Marie-Hélène has always been keen to share her expertise in polymer permeability, writing publications and supervising theses.
From a teaching point of view, Marie-Hélène has given occasional courses on "the compatibility of polymers and biofuels" for students in IFP School's Energy and Products (PRO) program, as well as for CACEMI in a course on the permeability of polymer materials.
Before joining IFPEN, she worked as a temporary Teaching and Research Associate (ATER) for the CNAM Polymer Chair.
A graduate of the École Supérieure de Physique et de Chimie Industrielles de la Ville de Paris, Marie-Hélène holds a Diplôme d’études approfondies (DEA) in Chemistry and Physical Chemistry of Polymers, as well as a PhD from the University of Paris VI on the structure-properties of elastomers.
